Last month we kicked off 2017 with a mission to collect as many photos as we can of dogs digging life in Charleston’s Island Town. Wow, we are off to a great start! Submissions poured in of dogs doing what they loved best around Daniel Island, like swimming, fetching and golf-carting. After narrowing the entries to the most impressive finalists we left the voting to our Facebook friends on My Island Town. We’ve tallied the votes and read the comments – we agree, it was a tough choice! But, there was one standout among the group that took the lead.
We are thrilled to announce 4-year old Puggle Penny Hall as the winner of January’s Dogs of Daniel Island photo contest! Penny will receive a $25 gift card to local Daniel Island pet store Lucia’s Premium Pet.
It’s clear Penny loves to take bike rides around the island, but we caught up with Penny’s owner, Laura Hall, to learn a little more about January’s Top Dog:
Q: How/When did Penny come to join your family?
A: Penny joined our family 4 years ago after the loss of our 14 year old terrier Lucy. Penny splits her time between New York City and Daniel Island and is great on planes.
Q: When did Penny come to be a dog of Daniel Island?
A: June 2015
Q: What are some of Penny’s favorite ways to spend time on Daniel Island?
A: Penny loves taking walks around the island, and of course bike rides.
Q: What do you like about having a dog on Daniel Island?
A: Owning a dog is a great way to meet our neighbors and their dogs on Daniel Island.
Q: What is Penny’s favorite treat, toy or game?
A: Penny loves her Kong Wubba toy and sleeps in a Cozy Cave.
Q: Tell us more about your photo submission, how did it come about?
A: We decided to cool down with a neighborhood bike ride on a hot July day.
Q: What’s the best tip you can give to others when submitting their photos for the Dogs of Daniel Island Photo Contest?
A: We enjoy the activity photos.
Q: How will Penny celebrate being January’s Dog of Daniel Island?
A: Penny will be celebrating with lots of extra treats!
