POA Kayak and SUP Rentals Resume

The weather is beautiful and the sun is still shining! Now is a great time to explore Daniel Island’s waterways by kayak or stand up paddleboard (SUP). Whether you are looking for a way to get out of the house or you have friends visiting for the weekend, paddling around Daniel Island’s quiet creeks will soon become one of your favorite activities.

While the POA office is still closed and staff is working remotely, the rental process will be different. Please read the rental guidelines below:

• Daniel Island Community Association residents will only be permitted to rent from the Beresford Creek Boat Landing
  • In stock equipment:
    • 3 single sit on top kayaks
    • 3 tandem sit on top kayaks
    • 4 stand up paddle boards
    • All necessary life jackets and paddles for rental
• Daniel Island Park Association residents will only be permitted to rent from the Ralston Creek Boat Landing
  • In stock equipment:
    • 3 single sit on top kayaks
    • 2 tandem sit on top kayaks
    • 1 stand up paddle board
    • All necessary life jackets and paddles for rental
• Please note that for Daniel Island Town Association residents, the rental of the kayaks and paddle boards will not be available, but stay tuned for information on upcoming rental options in early 2021 for watercraft at the new Daniel Island Marina at the end of River Landing Drive.
• Participants must be 18 or older to rent a watercraft. Children must be a minimum of 50lbs or 3 years of age to participate. An adult must accompany children under 18 in a tandem kayak. Maximum of 1 child per adult.
• All rentals include watercraft, PFD (personal flotation device), and paddle. All rented equipment must be returned to the locker where it was originally picked up.
• If any rented equipment is damaged, lost, or stolen, the renter will be charged full replacement or repair costs at retail prices.
• Daniel Island POA reserves the right to charge an additional ½ day or full day fee for each watercraft that is returned later than their expected return time.
• All rentals must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
  • If booking for a Monday, must be booked by 12 PM on the preceding Friday
• Please note, if you would like to rent on a Saturday or Sunday, you would have to pick up the equipment on the preceding Friday and you will have the watercraft through Monday morning at 9 AM. The POA office is closed on weekends and therefore is unable to schedule 4 hr or 24 hr rentals on weekends.
• For necessary sanitation and inspection of the watercraft’s, there will be a 24 hour time period between rentals of the same watercraft.
  • For example, kayak #3 was rented on Monday, it will not be available to rent again until Wednesday.
• At this time we will not be offering SUP or Kayak instruction.

Rental Process:

• Email info@dicommunity.org with your property address, what you are looking to rent, and when you would like to rent the items.
  • Please only email with inquiries as we will need to contact you back with a few questions for your rental.
• A POA staff member will contact you back with additional questions needed for your rental.
• Once all of the information has been provided to the POA Staff member, they will send a digital agreement via DocuSign and online payment instructions.
• To obtain your rented items, you will also be scheduling a time to meet the POA personnel at the respective boat landing.
  • Please note, the pick up time is 9 AM for ALL rentals.
• If you cannot continue with your rental due to inclement weather, but you have already paid, we will issue a refund to your property account to be applied towards future rentals or your annual dues.

Prices:
