Pirates Park Oak Tree Update

July 18, 2022

On Saturday, one of the oaks at the corner of Pierce and Smythe Street encountered massive damage from heavy consecutive rainfall and winds. The POA’s contracted certified arborist assessed the damages late Saturday and began the process of selectively pruning and removing the damaged branches. Based on further assessments on Monday, the arborist is making every effort to save the majority of the remaining oak. Significant pruning must still occur in order to balance the whole tree from future damage.

There was also damage to the fence line which will be repaired as soon as the cleanup is completed. Once the remaining landscape is inspected, future decisions will be made to install additional landscaping to improve the area and complement the existing oak. Please continue to use caution in the area while this work is ongoing.
