Daniel Island Waterfront Update

October 10, 2022

Sailing on the Waterfront

Junior Sailing Programs

This past summer, the Daniel Island Yacht Club (DIYC) introduced a Junior Sailing program to Daniel Island. It was the first sailing program at the Daniel Island Waterfront. With a total of 60 kids from ages 7 to 17, it was a huge success.

In addition, DIYC launched a Junior Opti Racing Program for all local sailors ages 7-12. All kids are welcome and will be racing in local regattas against other teams.

High School Sailing Program

The DIYC has donated the use of their 420 sailboats to both the Philip Simmons High School and Bishop England sailing teams for the Spring and Fall semesters of 2022.

It was such a success that the School of the Arts joined the program in the Fall. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see the practices Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday afternoons.

Adult Sailing

Anyone interested in sailing lessons for any age or ability level either single or as a group, please contact Stefan Kuehn at stefan@danielislandyachtclub.com.
