With so many new residents on Daniel Island, the Daniel Island Garden Club wants you to be informed about the monthly selection for the Yard of the Month. For the year 2022, the garden club started in the month of May and will continue through September.
There are 7 zones that encompass the Park Side and the Southside. Assigned to each zone are 2 judges who will select the yard they feel best represents the criteria for the best front yard and side yard if it is a corner lot. Selections are judged throughout the month and submitted no later than the 25th of the prior month, with no duplicities from the prior year. Judges are looking for well-planned front yards with originality and creativity. Colorful flower planting, well-manicured grass with no brown patches, trees well-trimmed with no dead branches or palm fronds.
While an individual’s home is being recognized as “Yard of the Month” the homeowner is expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title. Good luck all DI gardeners!
