DITA Election Process and Nominations

The Daniel Island Town Association (DITA), which includes all commercial properties, apartments, and most condominiums on the island (excluding Daniel Island Park Association and Daniel Island Community Association properties), transitioned to a property owner-controlled Board in January 2026. Below are some key dates for the 2026 election of the Board of Directors.

Important Dates

  • September 29th, 2026: DITA Board nominations begin.
  • October 5th, 2026, by noon: Last day to submit your name for the slate of DITA candidates.
  • October 20th – October 30th, 2026: Election of 1 DITA Board member
  • November 10th 2026: DITA Annual Meeting and Announcement of New Board Member.
  • TBD 2027: First DITA Board meeting and election of new Board officers.

Current DITA Board of Directors

  1. Colby Hollifield – President – 1st term expires 12/31/2026
  2. Otto Orr – Treasurer –1st term expires 12/31/2027
  3. Mike White – Secretary – 1st term expires 12/31/2027

Timing and Procedure

In 2026, there will be 1 Director elected. Colby Hollifield is completing his first term and is eligible to run for a second two-year term. The new director’s term will begin on January 1, 2027.

Board Candidate Nominations

Please submit by email the appropriate application form to be completed by a DITA Member. Additionally, please submit a photograph and no more than 2 paragraphs describing professional background and leadership qualifications to Danielle.Stix@dicommunity.org by noon on October 5th, 2026. The slate of DITA candidates will be published in the POA electronic newsletter on October 6th, October 15th, and October 20th, the weeks leading up to the election.

Board Election

Voting will be open at 6:00 AM on October 20th and will close at 6:00 PM on October 30th. The winners will be announced at the annual meeting on November 10th, 2026. You must vote for 1 board member for the voting system to accept your ballot. Only ONE vote per Member will be allowed pursuant to the Bylaws. Additional information regarding the election and the election process will be sent out closer to the election date.

The roles and responsibilities of DITA Board members may be found in the DITA Bylaws, Section C, on the POA website. The DITABoard will continue to meet at least on a quarterly basis beginning in January 2027.
