The following information was provided to the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association on Thursday, September 8th from Charleston CPW.
We wanted to make you aware of another sewer main collapse on Seven Farms Dr. where I-526 crosses. This repair is expected to take up to two weeks and maybe a little longer to get the brick pavers installed.
We suspect that the pipe failure is due to hydrogen sulfide in the sewer main which is very corrosive and is deteriorating the pipe causing the collapse. There is a plan in place to remove the flows from this pipe in the future but there is no estimated timetable for this to happen.
