2024 DICA Pool News

April 10, 2024

Now is a great time for everyone to review the pool rules. Please make sure that you have your pool fobs. The fobs are property-specific, small grey or green circular devices that grant you access to the pools when they are open.

FOBs

If you are a new property owner in DICA, the previous owner should have left you the fobs at your property. If the fobs were left with you at the property, please bring them by the POA office at 130 River Landing Drive to get them switched into your name. If there were no fobs left at the property, you can come to the POA office to pick up your 2 complimentary fobs. Please note that the maximum number of active fobs is 2 fobs per property at one time.

Not sure if you are a DICA member? Call us at 843-971-9200 and we can check for you!

All lost or physically damaged fobs are $50/fob to replace.

Pool Etiquette

Please also take this time to go over pool etiquette with your children if they are old enough to attend the pool without an adult.

  • No child under the age of 13 should be left at the pool without a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Please do not climb on the fences, lifeguard chairs, or dive blocks.
  • All 3 pools are equipped with 24-hour video surveillance.
  • The Lap lanes are not to be sat on or hung on
  • Backstroke flags (the triangle pennant flags at Pierce) are at the pool for lap swimmer use. They are not to be torn off or hung on.
  • Please be respectful of other swimmers and sunbathers.

Pool Opening

All three DICA Pools (Pierce Park, Scott Park, and Edgefield Park) are open for resident use! All pools are currently being heated, however, in the first few weeks at the beginning of each season, when the weather is temperamental, the pool temperatures aren’t as consistent.

Please keep in mind that even though the heaters are on and working, the water temperatures will fluctuate along with the outside air temperatures and rain.

Pool hours for all 3 pools are 5 AM – 10 PM, 7 days a week.

2024 Daniel Island Community Pools Summer Staffing

Gate Attendants are staffed from 8 AM – 8 PM on weekends only at all three DICA pools (Pierce, Scott, and Edgefield).

The weekend schedule will continue through Saturday, May 25th. On Saturday, May 25th, their schedule will shift and they will be staffed 7 days a week, Monday-Sunday from 8 AM – 8 PM at all three DICA pools.

All pool staff members are employees of Sweetwater Pools, the DICA Pool Contractor. Although pool staff members are not direct employees of DICA, residents are encouraged to notify the POA at (843) 971-9200 if they have any issues with pool staff. For employment opportunities with Sweetwater Pools, please use the QR Codes below:

Please noteGate attendant duties will be to greet residents and guests as well as keep a watchful eye on the pool, periodic cleaning of the pools and bathrooms, monitor the chemical balance, etc. They cannot and will not perform lifesaving rescues. Additionally, gate attendants are not meant to be babysitters. Ultimately, it is the parent’s responsibility to look after their child.

Gate attendants will have the authority to let residents know when they are breaking the rules and residents are encouraged to notify gate attendants on duty if they see any infractions so they can notify POA staff if an immediate response is needed. If pool rules are not followed consistently, the privilege may be suspended.

We take the security and safety of our amenities very seriously and encourage you to let us know if you see any dangerous behavior at any of our Daniel Island amenities. The pools are checked multiple times a day by our staff as well as our pool contractor.

There are emergency phones at all three pools for residents to use if a safety emergency occurs. This phone is located in the breezeway/entrance of each pool. If an emergency arises and you need EMS or Police, please pick up this phone and press the button. You will be automatically connected to emergency personnel. The address for each pool is located above the phone for easy access.

We hope that property owners will have a safe and fun year responsibly using the community pools.
