Pinwheels for Great Childhoods

April 02, 2018

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Throughout the month of April, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island, Prevent Child Abuse America, Darkness to Light and the Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center will embark on an awareness campaign and prevention initiative called Pinwheels for Great Childhoods. Through this project, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island will provide opportunities for the community to become better educated and receive appropriate training on recognition of all forms of child abuse. They’ve invited all the schools on Daniel Island and the Phillips Simmons schools to participate by placing a pinwheel on the grounds of the schools representing each student. Pinwheels are a symbol of the great childhoods that all children deserve.

During the month of April, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island will be selling pinwheels throughout Daniel Island to both raise awareness around the issue and importance of prevention efforts as well as support the training of adults in our community on the prevention of child abuse. For every $2.00 donated they’ll plant a pinwheel for a child on the school grounds across Daniel Island and the Phillips Simmons Schools. You may also purchase pinwheels to display at your home or office to show support for our campaign.

Funds raised will be used to sponsor pinwheels representing all the students and additional funds will be donated to partner organizations providing training, education and treatment of child abuse.
