Daniel Island Community Foundation – Campaign Ends 10/6

September 24, 2017

The devastation and needs resulting from Hurricanes Harvey in Texas, Irma in Florida and Maria in Puerto Rico are evident and heartbreaking. There are many good appeals to raise funds for hurricane and flood relief. One option we invite you to consider is a donation to 3 verified charities via the Daniel Island Community Foundation, a tax deductible 501C3 organization. The Daniel Island Community Fund will match up to $25,000 of donations made by residents and friends, which doubles the impact of a donation. Donations will be accepted at the POA office through the end of the day, Friday, October 6th.

Donations made to the DI Community Foundation will be directed to the following organizations: American Red Cross, Feeding Texas, and Team Rubicon. American Red Cross is coordinating basic human needs at shelters; Feeding Texas has set up a specific campaign to mobilize food to shelters and other strategic locations, and Team Rubicon, a national nonprofit organization, is deploying military veterans to aid first responders and medical professionals.

You can donate by dropping a check off at the Daniel Island POA Office, 130 River Landing Drive, Suite 1-C. Checks should be made out to the Daniel Island Community Foundation and note Harvey/Irma/Maria Relief. (Checks are preferred to avoid processing fees for electronic donations.) Donations will be accepted at the POA office through the end of the day, Friday, October 6th.

The Daniel Island Community Foundation is a 501 c 3 organization that was created to promote social welfare, lessen the burdens of government and provide affordable residential housing and facilities for persons of limited financial means.  Partnering with the Daniel Island Community Fund, the Daniel Island Community Foundation hopes to grow as a resource for nonprofit initiatives that Daniel Island residents are interested in promoting or funding.

Daniel Island residents are generous and caring. Thank you for your support of this community initiative.
