Drinking fountains have become a landmark and resting place for owners and their pets throughout the Daniel Island community. As stewards of these valuable assets, we committed to replacing the original fountains within a 3 year span. Based on our experience with the original designs, we moved towards a more user/maintenance friendly drinking fountain. The new fountains are also ADA compliant and freeze protected drinking fountain to handle the most recent below freezing temps.
In 2018, we are replacing a half dozen of the original fountains, and have also installed a new fountain at Townsend Park. The installation of the new fountain came from a suggestion by Christian Bussinelli, age 10, who lives on Gatewood Street. In the end of January, 2018, Christian wrote a letter to us about the need for a water fountain for he and his friends at the park. We visited the park and agreed that a drinking fountain would be a great addition. So here’s to you, Christian! Thanks for the idea and we look forward to receiving other recommendations from our neighbors in making our parks even more special.
