As part of continuing efforts to secure the shorelines of Bellinger Island, the Daniel Island Town Association has partnered with Cape Romain Contractors to secure a section of shoreline on Bellinger Island. Thomas and Hutton provided the recommendations and plans for the project as well as coordinated the necessary permitting through the proper government entities.
In preparation for the Erosion Control Project, several pine trees will be removed during the month of December to allow access and claim the new shoreline edge for the contractor. During this time, access to Bellinger Island will be closed during working hours, roughly 8 AM – 6 PM Monday – Saturday.
Cape Romain’s work is scheduled to begin on January 9, 2023. Access to the island will be closed until all construction is complete, estimated reopening in March 2023. They ask that all cars be removed from Beresford Creek Street on Friday, January 6th to ensure that they can transport their equipment to the island and to keep resident cars safe.
