Daniel Island Summer Swim Camps Are Back For 2021!

March 08, 2021

We are excited to announce the return of our Daniel Island Summer Swim Camps!

The Daniel Island POA has partnered with Swim Charleston, a nonprofit swim programming provider, on their summer swim camps to provide a higher level of programming as well as more tailored lessons within the camp to help your child excel in the water this summer. Together, the POA and Swim Charleston have created four different camp options that will not only have your kids asking to come back, but will make you as parents proud to be a part of our summer programming.

  1. Minnows ½ Day Camps (4 Hours, 24 Campers)
    1. 1/2 Day (4 hours) Swim Camp for ages 3-6, M-F 9:15am-1:15pm. Bring your own lunch (Except – Pizza provided on Fridays, of course!). Daily swim lessons, free swim and a snack are included with arts, sciences, games and sports to round out the schedule. Campers receive a Swim Assessment on Monday and Friday. Daily Blog posts to Class Dojo provide instructional feedback and a daily camp summary.  All campers must be potty-trained.
  2. Sharks ½ Day Camps (4 Hours, 24 Campers)
    1. 1/2 Day (4 hours) Swim Camp for ages 7-11, M-F 9:15am-1:15pm.
  3. Minnows Minicamps (2 Hours, 12 Campers)
    1. 2 Hour Mini Swim Camp for ages 3-6, M-F 9:15am-11:15am OR 11:15am-1:15pm.  If you are looking for smaller coach to swimmer ratios, smaller camp sizes (limited to 12 campers), or a shorter time away, a Minicamp might be for you!  Minicamps provide daily swim lessons and a snack with free-swim and other fun activities. Campers receive a Swim Assessment on the first and last day of camp. Daily Blog posts to Class Dojo provide instructional feedback and a daily camp summary. All campers must be potty-trained. NOTE: Minicamps running the week of July 4th are 4 days long (Tu-Fr) due to the holiday (tuition is prorated).
  4. Sharks Technical Camp (2 Hours, 12 Campers)
    1. 2 Hour Technical Swim Camp for ages 7-15, M-F 11:15am-1:15pm.  Small group (limited to 12 campers) focused on individualized technical swim coaching.  Includes use of tempo trainers, Bone-conduction headsets for in-water real-time feedback, and video analysis depending on swimmer level.
    2. Appropriate for advanced swimmers (on summer league, year-round swim team, or triathletes) wanting to work on technique for any competitive strokes.  Due to pool depth, we will not be working on racing starts.  Ideally, swimmers should be able to swim 3 of the 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly) and be comfortable swimming 300 meters (12 lengths).
