Pierce Park is a central gathering place on the island, especially during the summer months. The Olympic-sized pool is climate-controlled for year-round use! It has ample deck space and loungers for sunbathers as well as dining tables with umbrellas and a shaded pergola. To top it off, a unique splash pad offers hours of fun for all ages! Within the pool gates, you will also find bathrooms equipped with indoor showers and vending machines.
Behind the pool, you will find an outdoor event pavilion with breathtaking Wando River and marsh views. This Pavilion features a large outdoor fireplace, bathrooms, charcoal grills, and a catering kitchen. The park also has a large playground and two paved parking lots. Pierce Park Pavilion is the location for many resident gatherings including weddings.
Next to the Pierce Park Pool, there is a long green space with sunshades and benches which is ideal for bocce. In fact, we have a bocce group who meets there on a weekly basis for some friendly competition. When the bocce group is not out on the field, it is open for residents to use and play on. We even have a bocce set in the storage box for anyone to use.
The Pierce Park Pool is not available for pool parties, swim lessons, or special events.

Swim Team: The Pierce Park and Scott Park Pools are home 3 swim teams – Flying Fish, Swim Charleston, and Bishop England High School.
- The Flying Fish Swim Team is our community summer team. Typically practicing at Pierce Park Pool from the end of April to the beginning of July and finishing the season with a big City Meet. This team consists of swimmers aged 5 years old – 18 years old.
- The Swim Charleston Swim Team is a year-round team that practices at both Scott Park Pool and Pierce Park Pool. The Daniel Island and Swim Charleston partnership began in 2018 when Swim Charleston helped the POA convert the Pierce Park Pool into a year-round pool with new heaters! This team consists of swimmers aged 4 years old – adult (Masters team).
- The Bishop England Swim Team is run through the Bishop England High School. This team practices at Pierce Park Pool in September and October.
Water Aerobics: Many of our residents participate in our in-house water aerobics classes taught by a certified instructor. We host them at Pierce Park Pool in the fall and winter and then change over to the Scott Park Pool in the spring and summer.
Summer Camp: Our Summer camp is run by the Swim Charleston swim group and is available to all Daniel Island residents. Camp includes daily swim lessons, snacks, and plenty of games/activities! Each lesson is specifically tailored to the swimmer’s ability. This camp is not only fun, but you will see an improvement in your child’s swimming by the end of the week! The camp sessions change each year based on the feedback from both the campers and their parents.
