Come learn how to incorporate native plants into your landscape that support our local ecosystems and biodiversity.
Join the Daniel Island School and Community Garden (DISCG) outside the school in the community garden from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, March 9th for a presentation. The speaker will be Caroline Wright, manager at Roots and Shoots Nursery, which specializes in native plants and southern fruits. Caroline works with landscapers and customers on plant selection and manages plant production and inventory at the nursery. She has a certificate in SC Native Plants as well as a Master Rain Gardener certification from Clemson.
Caroline will talk about why you should incorporate native plants and where/how to start. She will touch on the big interests and what kind of garden may be the solution, for example, if you want to attract more butterflies, then a pollinator garden with host plants is a great place to start, or if you are interested in reducing pollution and clean water, why you should incorporate rain gardens into your landscape. She will also answer any questions on vegetable, herb, and cut flower gardening.
