Firefly Distillery is releasing a special select Barrel Proof Bourbon in celebration of National Bourbon Day on Wednesday, June 14. This first-ever evening release party will take place at the Distillery in Park Circle from 5 to 7 p.m., and offer an opportunity to purchase one of the limited Barrel Proof Bourbon bottles, tutorials on specialty cocktail creations, tasting flights, and a hand-selected gift guide for Father’s Day gifting. Free to attend, the distillery is extending operating hours to 7 p.m. for this special release and shopping experience.

Distilled and bottled in North Charleston, Firefly has released only three other cask-strength bourbons, each selling out within hours. This particular barrel is extra special as it was selected with Father’s Day in mind. The flavor profile, made up of cedar and smoky aromas with a hint of leather and vanilla, reminded co-owner Scott Newitt of going fishing with his grandfather and sitting on the leather seats of the car while his grandpa smoked a cigar. Bottled at 121 proof, the tasting notes are accompanied by a toasted oak, dark cherry, and tobacco mouthfeel, finished with a hint of honey. With this single-barrel release, only 150 bottles will be available for purchase onsite at the distillery in Park Circle. 

Historically bourbon enthusiasts have lined up at the door for the opportunity to purchase a specialty bourbon, but for this new release and evening event, guests can arrive at 5 p.m. and receive a number, marking their place in line. This offers guests the ability to peruse the gift shop and sip on craft cocktails in the Tasting Room while they await their Barrel Proof Bourbon bottle, signed by Firefly owners Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt.
