Let’s hear it for the girls! Charleston’s history is full of women who made a difference in their day – and beyond. Join the Daniel Island Historical Society as they celebrate Women’s History Month in March by spotlighting some of the Holy City’s most impactful female residents. Serving as guest speaker for our program will be the one and only Leigh Jones Handal, an author and historian who heads up the local tour company Charleston Raconteurs. Some of the women Ms. Handal will include in her presentation are Affra Coming, Mary Fisher Bailey Cross, Eliza Lucas Pinckney and her daughter, Harriott, Rebecca Brewton Motte, Maria Porcher Wayne, the Grimke sisters, and Free Women of Color. All are welcome. FREE.
