Annual Concert in the Park

March 23, 2022

The Annual Concert in the Park returns to Smythe Park on Saturday, May 7th from 4-9 PM. We kick off the season with our very own, Awendaw native and Grammy Award-winning artist, Charlton Singleton & his 10-piece Beehive Jazz Orchestra. Gather your family and friends, enjoy the scenery at beautiful Smythe Park and let Charlton and company get your toes tapping with their modern, up-tempo jazz music.

This year’s event will feature a special Kentucky Derby theme and will include a large Derby Watch Party tent as well as LED screens scattered throughout the park for live viewing of the race from Churchill Downs. Kids can also get into the spirit with Derby-related activities including face-painting, balloon artists, and more in the Kids Zone.

And don’t forget to decorate! Each year the Daniel Island Community Fund hosts a themed picnic competition for those attending the concert. This year, the Daniel Island Garden Club will be judging the contest. The best overall picnic spread will receive a $500 contribution and the second runner-up will receive a $250 contribution both towards My Sisters House. Picnic judging will take place at 4:45 PM with the picnic winner being announced around 6:30 PM on the grande stand.

My Sister’s House is the Lowcountry leader in domestic violence survivors.
