After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, the 9th Annual Daniel Island Chanukah Celebration and Candle Lighting will be returning to the DI Community. The event will provide education and awareness about the Jewish holiday of Chanukah and fun for adults and children alike. Traditional Chanukah food and beverage will be served. Music and song will be provided by Robin Shuler, formerly the music director of the historic synagogue of Charleston, Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim (KKBE). Rabbi Greg Kanter, from KKBE, will officiate the candle lighting.
Chanukah 2022 starts at nightfall on December 18th and ends at nightfall on December 26th. The large menorah will be displayed in front of the Guggenheim board beginning December 18th. At the Chanukah Celebration on December 22nd, Rabbi Greg Kanter will be officiating the candle lighting with an additional menorah at the Pierce Park Pavilion.
The festivities will begin at 4:30 pm. The menorah lighting is set for 5:15 pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022. The event will take place at the Pierce Park Pavilion at 1801 Pierce Street, DI, RAIN or SHINE. (The pavilion is mostly protected from inclement weather). This event is free and open to the entire Daniel Island Community, and persons of ALL faiths are encouraged to attend.
