As fall winds pick up, we’re asking all residents to be especially mindful when placing yard debris out for collection. Please remember that yard debris should not be placed at the curb earlier than two days before your scheduled pickup.
Putting debris out too early often results in it being scattered by wind or storms, creating a mess in streets, storm drains, and neighboring yards. It can also leave the neighborhood looking unsightly for several days before collection. By following this simple timing rule, you can help prevent loose leaves and branches from blowing around and keep our island clean, tidy, and beautiful.
Yard Debris Guidelines:
- Yard debris includes leaves, twigs, weeds, and grass clippings. These should be placed in brown paper bags designed for yard waste disposal.
- Tree limbs and stumps must be cut into 4-foot lengths and no larger than 4 inches in diameter, stacked neatly at the curb and clear of obstructions.
- Miscellaneous materials, which may include personal construction materials, wood, or metal scrap.
- No household garbage may be placed with yard waste for pick-up.
- If you use a landscape contractor, please ensure they remove all debris when they finish work.
City and Community Rules:
- Do not place any yard debris out earlier than two days before pickup (debris can be placed on the curb as early as Saturday for DICA and Sunday for DIPA).
Following these guidelines helps reduce windblown debris and maintains the beauty and cleanliness of our community.
