Working Together to Keep Daniel Island Beautiful and Safe

November 03, 2025

Our POA staff conducts proactive inspections throughout the island every week; however, it’s not possible for us to monitor every area every day. That’s why we truly value our partnership with property owners. Your eyes and input are essential in helping us identify issues or concerns within common areas, amenities, or violations of the governing documents.

If you see something, please say something, either to the POA or the City of Charleston Police Department, depending on the situation. Addressing issues early helps prevent them from growing into larger problems or becoming more difficult to resolve.

Is It A POA or City of Charleston Police Issue?

POA Concerns Include (but are not limited to):

  • Damage or vandalism at parks, playgrounds, graveyards, or private amenities (DICA pools, boat landings, rental spaces).
  • Governing document violations, such as trash accumulation, poor property maintenance, boats/trailers parked in driveways, or improper signage.
  • Malfunctioning equipment, including leaking sprinklers, non-working water fountains, or gate/boat arm issues.

If you notice any of the above, please contact the POA office by emailing info@dicommunity.org with a photo and the location of the problem, or call us at 843-971-9200. We’re happy to help resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

City of Charleston Police Concerns Include (but are not limited to):

Some situations fall under the jurisdiction of the City of Charleston Police Department and are often resolved more efficiently by contacting them directly through their non-emergency line at (843) 743-7200.

  • Parking violations – vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street, facing the wrong way, blocking a mailbox or driveway, or left for extended periods.
  • Solicitation or suspicious activity.
  • Pet-related issues – off-leash animals, failure to pick up waste, or excessive barking.
  • Property damage or theft – involving personal property such as vehicles, mailboxes, bicycles, or homes.
  • Noise complaints – loud or amplified sounds between 11 PM and 7 AM.

If you’re ever unsure which department to contact, please don’t hesitate to call the POA office at 843-971-9200. Our team is always glad to help you determine the right next step.
