Gardening in the Lowcountry is a new experience for many residents on Daniel Island. In 1998, the Daniel Island Garden Club was started by gardeners living on the Island. The club offers residents the opportunity to learn about gardening through speakers, field trips, and exchange information among members.
Objectives are to:
- Promote a knowledge and love of gardening
- Promote the protection and conservation of our natural resources and wildlife
- Encourage civic planting and beautification
- Further horticultural education, conservation and landscape design
They also host several contests throughout the year such as:
- Monthly Yard of the Month contest which runs from May – September
- Halloween Holiday Decorating Contest
- Winter Holiday Decorating Contest
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, September through May, at the Daniel Pointe Retirement theatre from 1:00 pm – 2:30pm. Membership dues are $25 annually.
