We have 2 great events happening Saturday, June 17th – the 7th Annual DI Kids Fishing Tournament and the Annual City of Charleston Kids Triathlon!
Traffic Alert for 7th Annual DI Kids Fishing Tournament:
Access to Daniel Island Drive and various other roads from Barfield Street to Smythe Street will be blocked beginning at 7:00 am and continuing until 11:30 am, approximately. There will be no vehicular traffic, including golf carts, allowed during the closure. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic is permitted. The Triathlon will be monitored by the City of Charleston Recreation and Police Department.
For those of you who plan on attending the Kids Fishing Tournament, there will be a complimentary shuttle service running from the Etiwan Park side of the Bishop England High School Parking lot to the Settlers Street and Purcell Street intersection. The shuttle will run continuously from 7:00 am – 12:30 pm, dropping off and picking up at these same locations. Large coolers or other large items may be dropped off at the Smythe Lake floating dock area prior to the 7:00 am road closure.
We strongly encourage all participants of the fishing tournament to walk or bike to the event.

Traffic Alert for City of Charleston Kids Triathlon:
Street Closures include:
- Pierce Street – from Jenys Street to Smythe Street – from Gibbon Street to Blakeway Street
- Daniel Island Drive – Belin Lane to Smythe Street
- Smythe Street – All of Smythe Street
- Oak Overhang Street – All of Oak Overhang
- Purcell Lane – From Daniel Island Drive to Pierce Street
- Grand Council – from Gibbon Street to Blakeway
- Seven Farms Drive – from the Circle at Cochran Street to Etiwan Park Street (access to the Self Storage will be blocked for a period of time)
Residents who live on Bulline, Jenys Street, Beekman, Doldridge and Purcell Lane will be able to leave the Island by taking Bennett Stock Lane to Jenys Street. Take a Left onto Pierce St and a right on to Barfield and continue to Daniel island Drive.
- Blakeway Street will be open for all Smythe Park residents on the school side of Daniel Island Dr.
- Barfield Residents will be able to access Daniel Island Drive by heading north via Barfield Street.
- Center Park Residents will be able to leave using Etiwan Park Street.
- Smythe Park Residents and Edgefield Park Residents will be able to leave using Wando Landing Street. Take a right on Daniel Island Drive and then a left onto Smythe St. You will then take a right onto Settlers St. and a left onto Barfield St. There may be delays taking this exit route. Please be patient as the race staff will do their best to assist you while keeping the bikers safe. You may need to wait a few minutes until the route is clear.
