We applaud those of you who are following the Governor’s “Stay At Home” orders. You are doing the right thing. For those times when you are taking that occasional walk outside or bike ride just to get some fresh air or a little exercise, please continue the social distancing and stay away from groups of adults or children. This should be everyone’s #1 priority.
It is evident that owners are really taking pride in keeping the community standards up and we wanted to point out a few things we have been noticing around the island and on Facebook:
- So many homeowners have been utilizing this time at home for home improvement projects such as:
- Cleaning/power washing their homes to get rid of the mildew that is so prevalent in the low country, especially after our mild winter this year
- Organizing and cleaning out garages and other storage areas on both the inside and outside of the home
- Starting that painting project on your porches, steps and railings of your home that you’ve been meaning to do but never had time for
- Keeping up or making improvements to your yards and landscaping by mowing, weeding and performing routine yard maintenance
- Some are using their stay at home time by sprucing up for the Spring by planting flower/vegetable gardens. It’s the perfect time to start your own garden. You can order your seeds online and never leave the house!
- We love reading the stories of community spirit and neighbors helping neighbors in need – Daniel Island is a truly special place and in times of uncertainty and need, it really shows.
- All it takes is a simple wave/smile/friendly and cordial attitude to those who you encounter throughout the neighborhoods. Daniel Island truly shines in this area especially during times of uncertainty.
A special shout out to all of the great ideas being submitted on some of our Daniel Island Facebook pages regarding activities to help parents who are experiencing this stay at home time with their children.
We also would like to thank our medical personnel, first responders, and essential workers as well as our unspoken heroes…the parents and grandparents in our community who have risen to the occasion like never before and have put family in front of self to help get through this period that we are experiencing.
There are so many HEROES among us all. Thank you for everything you are doing!
