The trails on Daniel Island are a place of enjoyment and recreation for the residents and guests of Daniel Island. Below are a few important courtesy and safety reminders to keep everyone’s experiences safe and enjoyable.
Multi-Use Trails
All trails on Daniel Island are multi-use trails. This means they can be utilized by runners, walkers, cyclists, and strollers alike. Even though they are labeled as multi-use, the use of motorized, electric items (including e-bikes, scooters, golf carts, motorized skateboards, etc), or otherwise is prohibited.
Important Etiquette Tips:
- Pedestrians have the right of way.
- Pass on the left. Please stay on the right-hand side of the trails except when passing. Please announce yourself to your neighbor when you are about to pass from behind…a gentle “on your left” works.
- Cyclists should ride single file on trails and at a safe speed. Please reduce speed in crowded spots.
- Be aware of your surroundings. When wearing earbuds or headphones, reduce the volume or remove one earbud so you can hear people passing.
- Protect our environment. Stay on the trails and out of the natural areas. Don’t drop trash.
- Control your pet. Dogs must be on a leash and in your control at all times. Clean up after your pets. The POA has provided convenient pet waste stations throughout the entire community for you to discard their waste.
- After Dark. Wear reflective clothing and use reflectors and lights when using the trails after dark.
Most of all, be friendly and courteous. Good path etiquette means more fun and safety for everyone. Thank you for continuing to do your part when using our parks, trails, common areas, and amenities.
