Patriotic Celebrations Cancelled But Our Community Spirit Shines

June 15, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and CDC guidelines discouraging large gatherings and encouraging continued social distancing, unfortunately, Daniel Island’s July 3rd and 4th annual festivities (including the parade, concert and fireworks normally held on July 3rd as well as the Pool Celebration activities at Pierce Park Pool held on July 4th) have all been cancelled. The Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association is committed to promoting a safe environment for all property owners during our events, and at this time, we are unable to ensure that type of setting, considering current COVID-19 conditions.

We are confident that the Daniel Island community will not focus on the disappointment of these cancellations, but instead respond by demonstrating our patriotism and love for country. The DIPOA will begin our patriotic decoration installations throughout the community this week.  We hope that everyone enjoys the new flag and bunting enhancements that we will be displaying in some of our roundabouts and other common areas. We look forward to the Exchange Club of Daniel Island, 5th Annual Field of Honor that will again grace the River Landing Drive median area with a breathtaking display of 650 American flags, in addition to honor flags that they will be installing at Guggenheim Terrace this year. For more information on how you can participate and sponsor an honor flag or make a donation, click HERE.

We encourage all owners to decorate the outside of their homes/units, porches and lawns in a manner that shows patriotism and follows the themes of “Independence Day” and “America”. We hope that everyone uses this opportunity to get creative and have fun as a family, as we celebrate 4th of July on Daniel Island.
