Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have come to expect the unexpected. The Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association (POA) has 13 staff members on its team, the majority of whom work in office spaces with little separation.
In March, when COVID-19 was starting to affect the Charleston area, POA leadership made the decision to close the office and have all office staff members work remotely with Field Operations remaining socially distanced on the island. This was a hard decision to make, but we felt that with the recommendations from the CDC, and Local and State authorities, this was the best decision for the safety of our staff as well as the Daniel Island Community. Staff members work normal business hours (Mon-Fri 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM) and have access to all tools needed to complete their tasks.
While working remotely, all staff members have been able to perform 100% of the normal duties they would be doing in the office digitally from home. The Field Operations staff have successfully been able to complete all tasks on island while remaining socially distanced in separate vehicles and working on separate projects. Additionally, someone has been checking the office mailslot and the mailbox on a daily basis. Some office functions have actually turned into an opportunity to better serve our residents, such as “door step delivery” of things like new or replacement amenity fobs.
Until we have 14 concurrent days of declining positive cases in our area, we will not be able to responsibly open our office doors for walk-ins. However, we are available for a socially distanced, masked meeting should a resident need to meet in person with a POA staff member. Please understand that the safety of all DI residents is our primary priority.
