2020 DI Fall Red Balloon Yard Sale Postponed

September 19, 2020

The 2020 Daniel Island Fall Red Balloon Yard Sale that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 26th, has been postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The DIPOA values the health and safety of our residents. This postponement decision was made due to various concerns including but not limited to bringing groups of shoppers, both on and off island, to resident homes and into the community. In addition to the large number of people, the inability to ensure that sellers and shoppers wear masks, frequently touched surfaces and the need to disinfect these surfaces and the burden to our yard sale hosts having to monitor and control the 6 foot social distancing guidelines. We felt this was in the best interest of public safety and our citizens’ well-being to minimize the risk of communal spread and exposure.

We realize that our owners look forward to the Fall and Spring yard sale as a way to make a little extra money as well as de-clutter your home. We understand that many of you have had more time than usual at home since the pandemic began to do your own organizing and getting your home in order. In lieu of hosting your yard sale this Fall, we would like to suggest that you consider donating some of the items that you would have sold to the many worthwhile local nonprofits or other organizations who need your help more than ever with donations as they have been hit hard by the COVID pandemic.

Click HERE for some but not all of the organizations located right here in the Lowcountry where you can donate your gently used items and help your community at the same time.

We hope to be able to reschedule the event once things improve and should that occur sometime later this fall, we will announce it. If not, we look forward to our annual Spring Yard Sale in Spring 2021.
