The Daniel Island Recreation Center, located at 160 Fairbanks Drive, had its soft opening on July 1, 2021. Current hours of operation for the building are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. As the City hires more staff to their team, they will look to expand their hours of operation. Open positions for the building are listed online at www.charleston-sc.gov/employment.
Open gym passes are currently available for a yearly fee of $15 per city resident and $30 per non-city resident. Cardio room memberships are also available for patrons 16 years of age and older for a yearly fee of $120 per city resident and $240 per non-city resident.
The City is currently working to build fall programming for fitness classes, active adult activities, and after-school youth activities. Anyone interested in instructing a class is encouraged to reach out to Jen Nelsen at nelsenj@charleston-sc.gov. Information for fall classes and other opportunities will be posted on the City of Charleston Recreation’s website (www.charleston-sc.gov/recreation) as well as Facebook page (@ChsRecreation) once it becomes available.
The City of Charleston is excited for the grand opening of the Daniel Island Recreation Center in August 2021 and looks forward to serving the Daniel Island community in this new and exciting capacity.
