Meet Brody: May’s Top Dog Of Daniel Island

June 19, 2017

Allow us to introduce Brody, the May winner in the Dogs of Daniel Island photo contest. Brody was voted top dog on the My Island Town Facebook page, and he’s the first recipient of a handsome new Daniel Island collar and lead set, available for sale exclusively at the Daniel Island Real Estate Information Center. Brody will be featured in the Daniel Island News and on social media in the coming weeks.

We love Brody’s affinity for fishing in the Lowcountry! We asked his owner to tell us more about this outdoor-oriented pooch.

How did Brody come to join your family?

Brody joined our family in April 2015. We adopted him from Palmetto Paws. We weren’t quite sure if we were ready for a puppy, but one look at his face and we knew we couldn’t leave without him!

When/how did Brody come to be a dog of Daniel Island?

As co-captain alongside Daniel Island’s favorite fisherman, Captain Greg Peralta, Brody has spent all of his life on the waters of Daniel Island. He became an official dog of Daniel Island when we moved here in October 2016.

What are some of Brody’s favorite ways to spend time on Daniel Island?

Aside from cruising the creeks, Brody enjoys visiting the dog park at Governor’s Park and taking long walks around the island.

What do you like about having a dog on Daniel Island?

My favorite thing about having a dog on Daniel Island is being able to walk everywhere with Brody! The island is the most dog-friendly place we’ve lived and we take Brody everywhere!

What is Brody’s favorite treat, toy or game?

Brody loves just about any treat you give him, but his favorites are chewy treats. His favorite toy is a squirrel that squeaks, which was given to him as a Christmas gift since he loves to chase the squirrels around Daniel Island.

Please tell us more about your photo submission.

This photo was taken while we were cruising around the creeks of Daniel Island. Brody is always very intrigued with fish and he likes to investigate every one that we catch. His favorite part is watching the fish swim off after we release them back in the water, which is what this photo portrays.

What’s the best tip you can give to others when submitting their photos for the Dogs of Daniel Island Photo Contest?

You have to let your dog be natural. The cute poses are great, but I think people like to see dogs just being themselves!

How will Brody celebrate being May’s Top Dog of Daniel Island?

Brody is going to celebrate by spending the afternoon on the boat and ending his day with a yummy treat!

Is there a favorite story or fact about Brody that you’d like to share?

Brody’s two best friends are black labs named Jake and Molly. He enjoys visiting their house and laying by the pool. Here are Brody’s two best friends at his 2nd birthday party:Birthday-Dogs

Submissions for the Dogs of Daniel Island Photo Contest seem to get better and better with each passing month – we’re happy to see so many owners and pets participating!
