Pets off leash are illegal and not allowed on Daniel Island per our governing documents as well as City of Charleston Ordinances, Sections 5-4 and 5-5.
Violators could face a fine of up to $500 or be held personally liable if someone or another pet were to get hurt by an off leash dog.
Daniel Island does have an off-leash dog run area at the City of Charleston Governor’s Park located north of the Mark Clark Bridge. This is an area that provides for off-leash recreation, training, and exercise opportunities for dog owners. While in dog runs or off-leash areas, animals are required to remain under sufficient/strict voice control.
