Summer is a time for vacations, cookouts, and making memories with family and friends, but for many of our neighbors, it can also be one of the most difficult times of the year. With children home from school and household expenses on the rise, the need for food and essential hygiene items often increases during the summer months.
From July 7–28, the Daniel Island Community Foundation is inviting the community to help make a difference during its Summer Food & Hygiene Drive. This year’s goal is to collect more than 200 pounds of nonperishable food and hygiene products to support local families in need.
Many families are forced to make difficult decisions between paying bills, purchasing groceries, or buying basic hygiene products. Community support helps bridge that gap and ensures local organizations can continue serving those who need it most.
Residents are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items, toiletries, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. Donations may be dropped off at the POA Office (130 River Landing Drive, Suite 1C), Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, between July 7 and July 28.
All donations will benefit three local organizations dedicated to fighting hunger and supporting families throughout the Lowcountry:
- Lowcountry Food Bank
- East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO)
- Lowcountry Blessing Boxes
Whether it’s a few canned goods, a package of diapers, or a bottle of shampoo, every and any donation makes a meaningful impact. Together, we can help stock local shelves and provide essential items for neighbors in need this summer.
