We have been working with a local swim program provider over the last few weeks and have agreed to move forward with them to offer year round swimming at the Pierce Park Pool starting in 2018. The group, Swim Charleston, is partnering with us on the heaters needed to make the pool comfortable and will pay a usage fee that will cover the extra utility and maintenance costs to extend our pool season. Depending on weather conditions, we can’t guarantee 365 days/year swimming, but it will allow us to expand our current schedule. Swim Charleston will have access to 4 lanes of Pierce M-F afternoons and Sat mornings in 2018. In 2017, Swim Charleston will use several lanes at Scott Park Pool in September and October. During the course of this partnership, all facilities will still be able to be accessed by residents. Swim Charleston may offer additional swimming classes including a  Masters Swim Class. Over 75% of Swim Charleston’s clients are already Daniel Island residents aged 5-15 so we think this partnership will prove to be a win win for our community.
