If you are considering placing a large bulk item out to the curb for pick up by the City of Charleston, please be sure to contact the City of Charleston first before placing the item curbside.
The City asks that residents inquire with them first to ensure that they can indeed pick up the bulk item based on the type and size of the item. This also ensures a timely pick up by the City of Charleston as residents will arrange a pick up with them directly rather than having the item sit at the curb for an extended period of time.
Items for bulk pickup may include:
- Appliances, Furniture, mattresses, etc.
Below are some of the items that will NOT be picked up by the City of Charleston:
- Construction material (generated by a contractor or homeowner) more than 90 gallons (approx. 3ft x4ft x 1ft), Car tires, Car batteries, and Paint cans (unless the paint is completely dry in the can)
Residents may call the City of Charleston Environmental Services Department at (843) 724-7364 to inquire.
