CHARLESTON, S.C. – JUNE 5, 2024 – The Beresford Creek Bridge will open to vehicle traffic on Friday, June 7th at 7:00 a.m. With two traffic lanes open, commuters will experience reduced travel times, eliminating the need for residents to detour around to Clements Ferry Rd. or Seven Farms and River Landing Rd. The multi-use pedestrian and bike path is still under construction and is expected to open to the public later this summer.
The Beresford Creek Bridge was built as a replacement for the Daniel Island Bridge over Beresford Creek. This project began in August 2023 and was completed in June 2024 after experiencing delays due to unforeseen embankment stabilization requirements on both sides of the bridge.
The City of Charleston collaborated with Cape Romain contractors to ensure the structural integrity of the bridge while preserving the natural surroundings by using innovative solutions such as geotextile grid reinforcement.
