As the leaves turn and the season of gratitude begins, the Daniel Island Community Foundation is kicking it off with a Thanksgiving Drive, a heartfelt effort to give thanks by giving back. From Monday, November 2nd, through Tuesday, November 24th, we invite you to help us collect nonperishable food and hygiene products for local nonprofit organizations that support families in need.
We’ve set an ambitious goal for 2026 to collect over 500 lbs. of donations for our local partners, and we are so close to reaching it! With your generosity, we can finish the year strong and provide warmth, nourishment, and dignity to those who need it most.
Food insecurity and limited access to essential hygiene products remain ongoing challenges across South Carolina. According to Feeding America’s most recent Map the Meal Gap research, South Carolina continues to experience significant levels of food insecurity, affecting individuals and families across communities throughout the state.
These challenges remind us that no family should have to choose between putting food on the table and purchasing essential items such as toiletries, hygiene products, and other basic necessities.
By coming together this Thanksgiving season, we can help bridge that gap.
We’re collecting:
- Nonperishable food items
- Toiletries & hygiene products
- Baby supplies
- Cleaning supplies
Donation Drop-Off Location:
Daniel Island POA Office
130 River Landing Drive, Suite 1C
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 9 AM – 4 PM
Dates: November 2 – November 24
All donations will directly benefit three incredible local organizations:
- Lowcountry Food Bank
- East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO)
- Lowcountry Blessing Boxes
These nonprofits work year-round to fight hunger and restore hope throughout our community. With your help, they can continue to make a lasting impact for families and individuals right here at home.
This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to share the true spirit of the season — gratitude, generosity, and community.
Let’s make a difference, together.
