Hip, hip, hooray! It’s Robert Daniell’s birthday! Join the Daniel Island Historical Society at Waterfront Park as we celebrate the 379th birthday of our island’s namesake!
A merchant and sea captain from England, Robert Daniell made the island his home in the late 1600s and early 1700s – while helping to establish the new colony, fighting in military skirmishes, serving as deputy governor, and engaging in other political endeavors. They’ll commemorate his big day with cake and refreshments (while supplies last) and a special performance by Captain Daniell’s Pipers, a local recorder group based on the island.
