Annual DI Independence Day Celebration

Where: Smythe Park

What: Celebrate Our Country, Our Freedom, and Our Nation’s Birthday by making Daniel Island one of the “Most Patriotic Towns in America.” Paint the Town Red, White, and Blue, and join us for Daniel Island’s Independence Day festivities on Thursday, July 3rd,  with neighbors, friends, and family. Dress up your homes, your businesses, your bikes, and your golf carts with patriotic colors and take part in our island tradition of honoring this wonderful holiday.

Preliminary Event Timeline:

    • 3:15 pm Golf Cart Parade line-up begins at Bishop England High School.
    • 4:00 pm Sharp – Parade proceeds to Daniel Island Drive and continues to Daniel Island School parking lot at DI Drive and Purcell Street
    • 4 – 5 pm Smythe Park – Emcee/DJ Shane Griffin playing patriotic music
    • 5:15 pm National Anthem by Zandrina Dunning at Smythe Park
    • 5 – 6:30 pm  Wildflower Station Band
    • 6:30 – 7 pm  Emcee/DJ Shane Griffin playing patriotic music
    • 7 – 9 pm – East Coast Party Band

 

Shag Contest!

Get ready to hit the dance floor—don’t forget your dancing shoes! As the beach music fills the air, we’ll kick off an impromptu shag contest, announced live from the stage. Come celebrate South Carolina’s state dance and soak up the coastal vibes with great music, good company, and plenty of fun!

 

Patriotic Parade Info:

🚧 Parade Traffic Alert – July 3rd
Please be advised that intermittent street closures will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd, from approximately 3:45–4:30 PM for the Daniel Island Annual Patriotic Parade.

The City of Charleston Police Department will manage these rolling closures, meaning streets will reopen as soon as the parade passes through each area. Please refer to the parade route map below for more details.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we ensure a safe and festive experience for all participants and residents.


🚙 Golf Cart Safety Reminder:
As a reminder, per City of Charleston ordinances, golf carts are not permitted on the streets after dark. Please plan accordingly and help keep our community safe.
