Traffic Alert: Event Reminder Regarding Tunes & Trucks Concert At Townsend Park On Friday, June 14th

June 06, 2019

The following is a message regarding a temporary street closure that will take place on Friday, June 14th from 5:00 – 9:00 pm for the Daniel Island POA Tunes & Trucks Concert.

On, Friday, June 14th, the Daniel Island POA will be hosting a neighborhood park concert, Tunes & Trucks at Townsend Park from 6 – 9 pm.

We invite you to join us for this free concert, featuring the bands Dreamland Band & Wildflower Station. We will also have food trucks and a kid’s entertainment vendor.

Bring your lawn chair, beverage of choice and your appetite and kick back and enjoy the great sounds of some wonderful outdoor music. We’ll have affordable food options available for purchase with several food trucks and food cart vendors at the park, also offering water and nonalcoholic beverages. Keep it simple and easy and purchase your dinner from our vendors!

For event logistics, pedestrian and vehicular safety reasons and food trucks being present around the park, the City of Charleston Police Department has requested that we close the following sections of streets temporarily for the event from the hours of 5:00 – 9:00 pm on that day. We feel that this safety measure will also relieve any excess traffic that could occur on the streets surrounding the park. City of Charleston police will be on site as well which is a requirement per the City of Charleston. .

The streets that will be temporarily closed from 5 – 9 pm on Friday, June 14th will be:

Willtown, Gatewood, Augustus and Townsend around the perimeters/access points to the park only. The remainder of these streets, outside of the perimeters of the park as well as other surrounding streets will be accessible and not closed. We want to ensure safety around the perimeter of the park, so we will be blocking off these access points around the park

Owners who live along the area of the closure will have access to come and go as they please, from the rear of their home or unit via the alley or lane behind their home/unit as this area will remain open. These owners are not required to remove any of their vehicles that may be on the street parked in front of their home, however they may wish to park any of their vehicles behind their home/unit before 5:00 pm on Friday, June 14th so that they will have access to them and can exit their home via their lane or alley should they need to do so. We will be blocking off this small section of streets surrounding the park on the park side of the street with temporary fencing, signage, cones and event personnel for our
food trucks to park in front of, so we ask these owners not to park their vehicles across the street from their home on the park side of the street the morning, afternoon or evening of Friday, June 14th and especially from 5 – 9 pm.

The Daniel Island POA is excited to be able to bring this event back to Townsend Park again this year.

We apologize for any inconvenience the temporary street closures may cause you or your family.

We hope to see everyone at the event!
