The City of Charleston Municipal Election Commission hereby gives notice that the City of Charleston will conduct a Special Election on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, to fill (1) one seat for the office of City Council District 1. This is a non-partisan, at large, municipal election conducted pursuant to SC Code of Laws 5-15-62. There shall be no party affiliation placed on the ballot. Term of office will expire December 31, 2023, or until such time as the newly elected council member takes office.
The special election for the Charleston city council District 1 seat vacated recently by Marie Delcioppo features five candidates vying for the position.
The Candidates are:
- Shawn Pinkston
- Tony Fogle
- Boyd Gregg
- Jen Gibson
- David Winkler
