August 31st, 12 PM Update: Tropical Storm Idalia
Daniel Island fared well considering the significant storm surge throughout the Lowcountry from Tropical Storm Idalia.
The POA’s Field Operations Team and Landscaping team with the Greenery are working to clean up common areas around the island. Property owners should start cleaning up the debris in their yards and in front of their houses.
Downed or damaged City street trees, which are located between the curb and sidewalk that are non-emergent, or flooding, should be reported to the City of Charleston Citizens Services Desk at (843) 724-7311 or online HERE.
For all issues regarding POA-maintained property, for example, boat landings, pools, trails, parks (excluding City Owned Parks – Governors, Fallen Oak, Freedom, or Etiwan), common areas, or ponds, please email info@dicommunity.org. Any information you can send, including the address/location of the issue and a photo of the problem, is appreciated. If your email is not working, please call David Perry, Field Operations Manager at (843) 847-9610.
DICA Pool Update:
- All three DICA pools (Pierce, Scott, and Edgefield), did not experience any damage during the storm. Our contractor Sweetwater Pools and the Field Operations Team cleaned up the debris this morning and the pools will all reopen at 12 PM today, Thursday, August 31st.
Events/Activities:
- The Thursday night Guitar Series tonight Thursday, August 31st, was canceled pre-storm for planning and safety purposes and will remain canceled for this week. It will return next Thursday, September 7th.
- The Food Truck Friday scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, September 1st will take place as scheduled. This is the last one for the year so be sure to show your support! More information can be found HERE.
Thank you for your patience as we work to bring Daniel Island to its pre-storm condition.
