Aaron Barber
- Aaron along with his wife Lauren and children Presley Paul and Birdie have lived on Daniel Island for 5 years. Lauren was born and raised in Charleston, attending Bishop England on Daniel Island. When we relocated from Charlotte we already knew that Daniel Island would be home. We love the family community on the island and can be found outside enjoying the endless amenities like biking to the library, exploring Bellinger Island, or taking golf cart rides to all the parks.Aaron began his 15+ year career in financial services in Virginia. He has worked as an economist for the Virginia Employment Commission and at the Virginia Retirement System where his responsibilities included equity research and portfolio management of pension assets. In Charlotte he worked for Wells Fargo Asset Management as a Portfolio Risk Manager. In 2014 Aaron joined the Vingi, Edwards & McCallum Private Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in downtown Charleston. He is responsible for investment management and risk oversight for high net worth families.Aaron earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics from Hampden-Sydney College and a Master of Arts in Financial Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Aaron is a Chartered Financial Analyst.In Charlotte Aaron served on the homeowner association of his townhome community for 2 years including completing annual training from the Community Associations Institute.
Timothy Dempsey
- I grew up in New York City and spent 30+ years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, moving to Daniel Island in 2011, following my daughter and grandchildren. I have worked in both the public and private sectors for Fortune 50 sized companies, the University of North Carolina and the Town of Chapel Hill. I have a BA in American History from the City University of New York, and a Masters of Science in Library and Information Science from UNC. For 4 years, I served on the Planning Board for Chapel Hill, where I served as Chair for two years.Most of my work has been in the area of Organization Effectiveness, assisting organizations of all sizes in assuring that they develop the capabilities, strategies, and resources to achieve their mission. As Daniel Island transitions from developer to resident governance, it is imperative that we develop policy formation and decision making processes that define and deliver a vision for our community that can enable residents to both contribute to, and reap the benefits from, our community association.
Bill Goff
- Bill and his wife Carolyn grew up in Charleston, WV and were transferred to the Houston area by Union Carbide (UCC) in 1992. They spent the next 20 years in Houston before building and moving to Daniel Island in 2012. They have two children and four grandchildren.Bill received bachelors and masters degrees in Electrical Engineering and a masters degree in Project Management from WVU. During his 35 years at UCC, he design advanced process control computer systems. After retiring from UCC, he worked seven years as the Gulf Coast Regional Manager for GE and another seven years as a Major Capital Project Manager for the State of Texas. He taught Electrical Engineering for 22 years as an adjunct professor at WVU and has two PE’s in Control Systems.Bill was president of his homeowner’s association in Charleston, WV and is currently a member of the Daniel Island Transition Team that is managing the transition control from the developer to the residential community. He also volunteered on the tree pruning committee tasked with keeping the street-side trees in check. In his spare time, Bill is a Professional Photographer and a member of the Daniel Island Art Guild.
Otto Orr
- Otto Orr is currently a Director of Global Real Estate at Blackbaud. In this role he oversees workplace strategy and design as well as sustainability, security and facility operations. Otto was responsible for the design and construction of the new Blackbaud Global HQ here on Daniel Island which has been awarded LEED Gold status for superior sustainable design.Prior to Blackbaud, Otto was VP of Real Estate at LPL Financial in Charlotte, NC. He also has several years of real estate experience at CBRE in Charlotte, NC working with clients like Bank of America and Duke Energy on future of work initiatives. Otto has completed several large, urban projects include the Duke Energy Center and Bank of America Corporate Center in Charlotte and LPL Financials’ west coast HQ in San Diego, California which was one of the country’s first ‘net zero’ energy buildings.Otto has a passion for sustainability design and construction and believes it should be a given on any project in today’s environment. By integrating solar technology, LED lighting controls, efficient water use, local sourced food products, and clever reuse of materials, the new Blackbaud Global HQ is a great, local example of sustainable design and operation.Otto also has a passion for creating culture through engagement and a sense of community in the workplace. Otto has achieved this at Blackbaud by creating an open and collaborative workplace design that fosters creativity and innovation. Using building amenities (gym, outdoor sports activities, game room, cafeteria) and employee-focused events and activities, Otto has helped improve employee engagement and make Blackbaud a great place to work.Otto believes this same focus on sustainability, culture, engagement and community can be applied to Daniel Island. Otto and his family (wife Elsa and 2 kids – Olivia and Brad) moved to Daniel Island 3.5 yrs ago. With traditions like “pumpkin walk”, concerts in the park and the 4th of July parade, the Orr family have truly fell in love with Daniel Island and consider it a special place to live. They have thoroughly enjoyed their new life on Daniel Island and would like to give back to the community and continue to make DI a great place to work, live and play. Otto believes his experience and focus not only on the physical community but also the operation of the community can help ensure Daniel Island is a special place for years to come.
William D. Pawlucy
- William Pawlucy, CAE, MPA, IOM serves as Founder and CEO of Association Options, a global consulting company. Bill works with organizations and NGOs across the country and globally and as far as Amman, Jordan where he consults with the Center for International Private Enterprise to help strengthen democracy and private enterprise in the region. Bill has almost two decades of experience working with nonprofits domestically as well as serving as a chief staff executive and a consultant. His clients include the American Dental Association, the National Association of REALTORS®, the United State Chamber of Commerce (and local), PGA of Canada, the Heart Failure Society of America, the United States Tennis Association, the National Association of Home Builders, Kansas Soybean Association & Check off Board, the Missouri University Veterinary Health Center, the Council of Western State Foresters, the American Urogynecologic Society and many others.Prior to launching his company, Pawlucy served as Director, Sales Channel Development for TD Ameritrade. His key role was to build a “company within a company” for the organization. He also served as CEO/president of Amedco, a medical certification/accreditation management company; vice president of new client development at SmithBucklin; and second in command of another top-five association management company. For the media giant Viacom, he was a pioneer for the development of the retail entertainment arm in Central Europe and Asia. He holds a master’s degree in public administration (MPA), is a certified association executive (CAE), and a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute graduate and faculty (IOM). Association Trends Magazine also awarded him the Young & Aspiring Association Executive honor.Bill also served as a Board Member on the National Board of Examiners to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award as an appointee to the United States Department of Commerce and NIST. Tim Roland
- I am employed by Thomas and Hutton Engineering. Two degrees (mechanical and Civil) in Engineering from Louisiana State University. I have been associated with the development of Daniel Island since the very beginning, before any houses were built. I have been a resident of DI for 5 years in Smythe Park. My wife Patti and I have been married 38 years with two adult children. We have been living in the lowcountry for 28 years.I have served as the president, and treasurer of Point Pleasant neighborhood and ARB chairman in Hobcaw creek plantation.I enjoy living on Daniel Island and look forward to serving on the board.
Bob Sauer (2nd term)
- Bob and his wife Ellie moved to Daniel Island from New Jersey in November 2005. He quickly became active in the community by taking a key role in the design of the gardens in front of Daniel Island School as a member of the DI Garden Club. As a member of the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association (DINA) Bob headed up four teams of volunteers pruning street-side trees on the island. This project was recognized by TreesSC, a statewide organization, as an outstanding example of community involvement.In 2010 Bob founded Angels for Education, a group of volunteers who tutor at-risk students in grades K-3 to help them improve their reading and literacy skills. He also volunteered in the emergency department of MUSC Children’s Hospital from 2006 to early 2019. He currently sits on the board of the Daniel Island Historical Society and is chairing the Live Oak Campaign, an initiative that allows residents and others to “adopt” one of our grand oaks here on the island.Bob is currently a member of the Daniel Island Transition Committee, a group tasked with defining the respective roles of the residents and the developer as we move from a developer driven community to one directed and controlled by the residents themselves.
Under the auspices of DINA, Bob is heading up a project to get the City of Charleston and the Berkeley County to repave our streets here on Daniel Island. While this project is only just beginning it remains an important long term initiative to improve our safety and quality of life on Daniel Island.Bob has served for the past two years as one of the two resident members of the board of directors of the Daniel Island Community Association (DICA). He is seeking a second two year term and looks forward to continuing to serve the residents of DICA.
Austin Walker
- My family moved to Daniel Island from West Ashley just over a year ago. We have other family members that also live on Daniel Island. I am married with two young boys (6 month old and 3 years in December). I am currently the CFO of Charleston ENT & Allergy and have worked there since moving to Charleston in 2014. I am a CPA with work experience in accounting, finance and budgets. I am passionate about the Daniel Island community and would like to make a positive impact by being on the DICA board of directors.
