Daniel Island Receives New Aerial Tiller Truck

The Charleston Fire Department will place a new aerial tiller in service on Daniel Island this Saturday, March 25th. The new truck will be assigned to Station 18 on Seven Farms Drive as Ladder 101 and will replace the existing 2006 Sutphen straight frame aerial ladder. The existing ladder truck will be reassigned to the reserve fleet.

Daniel Island Residents are invited to join Mayor John Tecklenburg, Fire Chief Karen Brack, and members of the Charleston Fire Department for a dedication ceremony at Station 18, 235 Seven Farms Drive, Sunday March 26th at 3:00 p.m., where they will have the opportunity to tour the new ladder truck and meet with members of the department.

The 2016 Pierce Arrow XT 100’ tiller aerial ladder is equipped with:
• 1500 gallon per minute pump with 200 gallon water tank.
• 249’ of ground ladders
• A complete set of Hurst extrication equipment, Res-Q-jacks, cribbing, air bags, rope gear, torches, vent saws, cut off saws and chain saws.
• Personnel safety equipment including six self-contained breathing apparatus, two thermal imaging cameras, and personal flotation devices.
