Join the Daniel Island Historical Society at Waterfront Park as we celebrate the 379th birthday of our island’s namesake! \nA merchant and sea captain from England\, Robert Daniell made the island his home in the late 1600s and early 1700s – while helping to establish the new colony\, fighting in military skirmishes\, serving as deputy governor\, and engaging in other political endeavors. They’ll commemorate his big day with cake and refreshments (while supplies last) and a special performance by Captain Daniell’s Pipers\, a local recorder group based on the island. \nCome take part in this FREE event for all ages.

DESCRIPTION:The Daniel Island Historical Society is mixing it up when it comes to local history – literally! Join them for their first ever “Colonial Cocktails” fundraiser\, featuring guest speaker/presenter Carin Bloom\, a history and museum professional with education and experience in historical archaeology of the American Revolution. To be held on Sunday\, March 2nd at Beresford Hall’s “The Ruins” Community Clubhouse\, 454 Royal Assembly Drive\, Charleston. \nMs. Bloom will spotlight the history of three cocktails that date back to the 18th-century Colonial era in America. In addition to the presentation\, samplings of the libations and appetizers will be served. \nEach participant will also receive a printed cocktail book with the recipes and a spot for notes!
