Join the Charleston Climate Coalition and the Sustainable Ocean Alliance Charleston for the Tour de Earth Day 2022. The event is taking place Saturday, April 23 in downtown Charleston. Participants will ride bikes around the peninsula learning about current environmental issues and opportunities for change.
“With Tour de Earth Day, we’re looking to bring folks together to celebrate the Earth and learn more about our rich environmental community in the Lowcountry,” comments Belvin Olasov, Co-director, Charleston Climate Coalition. “We will turn a critical eye to where environmental justice issues remain and share information about environmental success stories.”
Riders can expect educational talks, and firsthand looks at urban green space, art, and activities as they make their way around the peninsula’s green spaces. Partners for stops for Tour de Earth include the Charleston Parks Conservancy, Enough Pie, Friends of Gadsden Creek, Green Heart Project, Eastside Community Development Corporation, Alliance for Planet Earth, and more. Food and drinks will be provided along the way.
Individuals should bring their own bikes and decorate them with the theme of Earth Day. There will be a costume contest with eco-friendly prizes at the final stop of the tour at Corinne Jones Park.
