Daniel Island POA Services

The Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association (POA) office provides a number of services for residents, including:

  • Maintenance of common property (trails, pools, boat launch ramps, parks, playgrounds, ponds, etc.)
  • Mailbox installation
  • Street sign maintenance
  • Architectural Review Board Administration
  • Enforcement of restrictions & rules outlined in the community Covenants

In addition, the POA office serves as the primary source of information for owners, using newsletters and this community website as key tools for resident communications.

Finally, the POA also seeks to foster a sense of community by helping to coordinate and promote social, educational, and recreational programs and events for residents.

All property owners become members of one of three property owners associations on the island, depending on their geographic location. All three associations are administered by the staff at the POA office, located at 130 River Landing Drive, Suite 1C.

Daniel Island Community Association (DICA) maintains common property in all residential areas west of Daniel Island Drive and south of Seven Farms Drive.

Daniel Island Park Association (DIPA) maintains common property in Daniel Island Park (exclusive of Daniel Island Club amenities).

Daniel Island Town Association (DITA) oversees business areas east of Daniel Island Drive along Seven Farms Drive, River Landing Drive, and Island Park Drive.

Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs)

Covenants also called “governing documents,” are non-governmental, legally binding restrictions that apply to land and landowners. On Daniel Island, there are three primary sets of covenants that correspond to each of the property owners associations: the Daniel Island Community Association, Inc. (DICA), Daniel Island Park Association, Inc. (DIPA), and Daniel Island Town Association, Inc. (DITA).

The Covenants are legal instruments that are recorded in the official land records office for Berkeley County. They describe in detail the rights and responsibilities of property owners and of each of the associations. To view the Covenants, please click here.

Berkeley County residents have a single stream recycling option thanks to the county’s partnership with RePower South. The newly constructed RePower South facility, located at the Berkeley County landfill, will take 100 percent of the residential and commercial waste delivered to the site and process it into recycled commodities, as well as a coal alternative which is co-fired with coal.

RePower South is servicing Daniel Island with its single stream collection, meaning all of your garbage and recyclables will go into one bin. Residents should place all garbage and recycling materials into their current green City of Charleston bin for collection on Monday as usual.

Some frequently asked questions regarding the single stream recycling can be found HERE.
