SCHOOL CLOSURES: On Sunday, March 15th at his 4:00 PM press conference, Governor McMaster announced that all schools in South Carolina will be closed for at least the next two weeks starting Monday, March 16, 2020. Please monitor local news and your child’s respective school for updates.
POOL CLOSURE: HOAs/POAs across the country, including those in the southeast are starting to close pools and amenities based on industry advice in an effort to mitigate potential spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
It is our main priority as the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association to keep our property owners, their guests, and our staff safe at all times. With the potential spread of the virus being so unpredictable, we want to minimize the risk of infection and after consulting with our DICA board, we have decided to close Pierce Park Pool starting Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice. Scott Park Pool and Edgefield Park Pool have not yet opened for the season so they will remain closed as well. While we realize that the Covid-19 virus is not transmissible in water, we are concerned about the multiple surfaces that are found at our pool amenities and bathrooms.
Please refrain from entering the pools until they have reopened and please impress upon your children NOT TO ENTER THE POOL FACILITIES by jumping fences, etc. during this temporary closure. The pools will not have the same level of service that it has when opened and will NOT be safe for swimming.
Proactive measures like this are certainly an inconvenience, but health and safety must be our primary concerns right now.
OTHER DANIEL ISLAND AMENITIES: We recommend not gathering in groups in any POA or City maintained park, playground or common area on Daniel Island until further notice.
