Information from the City of Charleston 3.23.2020

March 23, 2020

As of 3/22/20 per the recommendation of Mayor Tecklenburg, and other local mayors and law enforcement, all non-essential workers have been strongly recommended to stay home. For the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association, this means that regular maintenance of all DIPOA common areas including pools, boat landings, playgrounds, fitness equipment, and trail systems will be modified after March 23.

  1. To avoid overflowing garbage at our POA parks, playgrounds, boat landings and trails, please be mindful and do not use the common area trash cans as there will be limited weekly pick up. If you create trash when on a walk, or at a playground, please take it home with you for disposal.
  2. Our local Team 5 Police have increased their patrol of the entire island, especially at our pools. During the closure, the water is not currently being maintained to a safe level for swimming. Please talk to your children and remind them that it is unsafe for them to enter these facilities at this time.
  3. All common areas, parks, trails, and playgrounds are considered “Closed” as we will have limited safety inspection ability of facilities and play equipment.
  4. If you see an urgent issue at one of our parks or common areas that needs to be addressed, please contact Chris Hamil at Chris.Hamil@dicommunity.org.

Proactive measures like these are certainly an inconvenience and an economic burden, but health and safety must be our primary concerns right now. Thanks in advance for protecting your community by following this recommendation.
