An Important Announcement Regarding Parks & Trails

August 12, 2021

The bike paths, walking trails, and sidewalks on Daniel Island are intended for walking, biking, and jogging – but not for golf carts or other motorized vehicles (for example scooters, e-bikes, skateboards, etc.). These items are not permitted on common trails. The Daniel Island Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions restrict activities such as the operation of motorized vehicles maintained by the Association. When you see someone on the paths with these vehicles, please be sure to mention to them that it is not allowed.

Additionally, the City of Charleston ordinance states that “No person shall ride or operate a bicycle upon any sidewalk in the city”. An exception to this would be if the biker is a child the age of twelve (12) and under. More bike safety information can be found HERE.

Negligence by disobeying these restrictions can result in damage to turf and other common area property maintained by the Association and increases the costs when damage occurs. We appreciate everyone’s help in enforcing this covenant.
