Daniel Island Youth Highlight: Jamie Maus
Jamie Maus is a sophomore at Bishop England High school. She was nominated as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society “2020 Student of the Year” candidate last summer by one of her fellow high school students. Jamie accepted this nomination because she knows that too many innocent lives are affected by this disease and wants to help them. When Jamie took on this role, she took on an important job and a very big responsibility. Jamie was tasked to raise as much money as possible from January 25th – March 13th, create a team around her, and spread awareness. Jamie is excited to start her campaign to raise money because she knows how much good she can do.
As a high school student there are not very many opportunities to really help your community, but the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society empowers students just like Jamie to get outside of their comfort zone, learn very important leadership skills, and help possibly cure cancer! Her goal is to raise $15,000 by March 13th in order to help those in need. Jamie has built a team of fellow Bishop England students in order to help her raise money and spread awareness. Jamie is very excited about her goal and could really use your help getting there! Any donation, no matter the size, would help fund Jamie’s cause!

Students of the Year
Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program for exemplary high school students. During the campaign, participants foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidates in each community that raise the most funds during the 7-week competition. In the Lowcountry, the Students of the Year Competition begins on January 25th, 2020 and ends with a Grand Finale Gala Celebration on Friday March 13th at the Charleston Marriott! This evening will be filled with celebration, inspiration and fighting back! We will honor each student participating in this year’s campaign, announce the winners and share the TOTAL raised by the 2020 Class of Candidates! It’s an event you don’t want to miss!

Double Your Impact:
The Daniel Island Community Foundation has set up a Donate2it page to help Jamie with her fundraising. 100% of donations made via the Donate2it page will be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and will be put towards Jamie’s total fundraising goal of $15,000.
